Secretary Trowbridge listed the proposed Executive Committee for the 2007 year. It is as follows:

Old Bussiness:
Jack Booth suggested the ideas of publicizing the event in certain publications, Steve
Trowbridge said that he would research the matter.
Steve Trowbridge will still be the official webmaster as he owns the URL. And if you want
something on the site please contact Trowbridge.
Discussion of Quartermaster Supplies – need rifle powder, have a ½ case of cannon powder,
as mentioned last year first aid kit and cleaning kit have been recently refurbished.
Events:
Gonzales: Dennis Riedesel is coordinator, the dates for the coming year in Oct 5, 6, 7,
2007. Reenactor participation is down, need more soldado participation.
Had discussion on how the event schedule runs and a possible skirmish on
Sunday before people left. It was chosen not to go through with, but to
move the ceremony that occurs on Sunday that honors the Gonzales
Thirty-two to be done on Saturday sometime instead of on Sunday.
Riedesel will discuss this idea with Pioneer Village.
Folklife Festival: Dennis Riedesel is liaison with the Texas Folkilfe Festival at the Institute of
Texan Cultures in San Antonio. The event is June 8, 9, 10; the event
dropped Thursday which the event was also on. This event is only open to
COTLHA members. We have 16 slots and four hotel rooms, as the norm.
Try to do the same style setup in the past and include the new skills setup.
In the past extra tickets are normally purchased to cover the raising price of the foods at the event.
San Patricio: An independent event sponsored by Rodney Nance, David Vickers, and
William Scott. The event will be held February 3, 2007 at Constitution
Square in San Patricio. The event is Republic of Texas time period of 1842. Nance spoke of the event, a ROT Faire of such. There is supposed to be a saloon. The city asked that there not be a whole lot of fire pits, there will three community fires – these will need to be shared especially since one will need to be used for cooking for the community meal on Saturday night. The event is a South Texas event of who would have been around at the time including cowboy, traders, and even some Delaware Indians. There is a camp fee in place to defer the cost of the porta-johns and food.
Rodney Nance mentioned the ROT Folic – if interested contact Scott McMahon. Event is
February 17, 2007 at Henkel Square in Round Top, Texas.
William Scott made mention of the Red Rovers Drill in preparation for Goliad. The drill is
to take place at Landmark Inn of March 3, 2007 starting at 9:30. Scott also invited
members to participating in the closed ADDA Ceremony to see if members were interested in participating. And also made notice of Fort Inge living history days on April 13, 14 at Fort Inge near Uvalde, Texas – both civilian and military impressions are appropriate. If interested in any of these events please contact William Scott.
Dennis Riedesel announced that he wants to sponsor a “cowboy style shootout” event at Hogg Plum in early May. If interested contact Dennis Riedesel.
Steve Trowbridge announced the Fort Chadbourne event, May 4, 5 near Bronte. The event is a timeline style event.
Goliad: Dates for the Goliad Massacre event are set for March 24, 25. President
David Vickers asked Newton Warzecha, director of Presidio LaBahia to speak of the upcoming event. Warzecha said that last years event was a great event, some years the event has drawn as many 5000 persons through the gates. In normally brings in 10% of the annual income to run the presidio. Warzecha was contacted by Monte Martinez of the Alamo to find out how the candlelight tour works and wanted to possibly do a similar event at the Alamo. It was announced the Goliad State Park has a new law enforcement ranger, Billy Flores. The wood supply was mentioned, and was decided to be discussed at a different time. The schedule of the event has been written and would be published on the calendar of the presidio in the next couple of weeks. It was asked the organizations opinion of the Young Marines, of which it was stated how much of a help they are to the event. In conclusion Warzecha presented the organization with a donation for the powder fund.
President Vickers opened the floor to a long discussion pertaining to safety at the event. It was decided to adopt the State Regulations of maximum loads as Crossroads Regulations also. Trowbridge made the motion and it passed. And at the event all boxes will be inspected for hot loads. If persons are shooting hot, they are supposed to be asked and possibly removed from the battle if it continues. William Scott volunteered to procure State Parks Safety Manuals to all the officers.
Jeremy Martin asked for suggestions on Food, and it was agreed that food was fine.
Along the lines of safety, there was a long discussion on the issue of horses/cavalry was discussed including the situation of loose horses in the field and generic horse safety. The rule of NO horses in the compound will be enforced. Also this notice will be posted on the website, and on correspondence for the event. With this all horseman are to carry water to their mounts and not water them in the compound. It was also discussed that Bruce Frazer of Dallas be contacted about overseeing the cavalry. Steve Trowbridge is to contact Frazer.
There was a short discuss about fires led by Larry Brooks, and as long as there is not a burn ban, it should be possible to have some more fires.
Jeremy Martin discussed the candlelight tour, it was made a note that children should remain hid out because there were no children in the fort at this time. The need for some possible impromptu scenarios incase the existing scenarios need help to fill time. William Scott suggested a Question and answer scenario at the end of the tour to answer questions of persons of the tour, that way they are not left hanging in limbo. Scott volunteered to fill this position.
Tom Kallas mentioned that the small children in uniforms was unnecessary and needed to be looked at. It was made a motion for all children under the age of 13 are dressed in civilian attire. The only noncombatants in uniform are Mexican powder monkeys.
Dennis Riedesel made note of the need for the Isaac Hamilton story that is given on Sunday. Riedesel would like to start apprenticing someone to eventually take the role. The whole speech is about an hour and fifteen minutes. If anyone is interested in the role they are to contact Dennis Riedesel. Rodney Nance made note of an interest to study the story.
David Vickers made some note on timing and to make sure we are on schedule, not to jump the gun. Each battle starts with the fight of the skirmish companies, with the exception of the final battle.
Woodcutter’s Ball:President Vickers set the Woodcutter’s Ball , to cut firewood for the
coming Goliad event, the dates for this are set the weekend prior to the
event; Saturday, March 17th and if needed to be continues the Friday of the
event.
New Business:
Tom Kallas made note that there is a possibility of Texas Pioneer Muzzle-loaders (TPM)
might fold and depending on how the members feel they might put their assets in to
Crossroads.
Larry Brooks made mention of the idea of having an Old-Timers Rendezvous.
Christmas Rendezvous – might be a Pony Express Finale this year at the Presidio. And the
possibility of making the Christmas rendezvous a sanctioned Crossroads event.
The thought was throw around to moving the meeting date to January instead of February,
making the meeting date the third weekend of January, when TPM normal January
rendezvous was. The idea is to move the Rendezvous to the Presidio. And have the COTLHA meeting in conjunction of the event. It was made a motion to start the presiding to amend the bylaws for this meeting date.
Dennis Riedesel made notice that the Sons of Confederate Veterans found Fort Waul , and
wants to rebuild the post and put it in the care of Pioneer Village. City of Gonzales is supporting the idea. In the future their might be a place for Crossroads support of doing some Civil War type event at the historic Confederate Fort.
Jeremy Martin made a notice that dues were due and could be paid to him, dues are $15.00.
President David Vickers adjourned the meeting at 11:35 AM.
These are the minutes of the 2007 Annual Crossroads of Texas Living History Association Meeting
as reported by Secretary William V. Scott.
